A high-wire act is often to open a new restaurant. But it seems like setting yourself up for failure to do so during a pandemic when most US restaurants are unable to function at full capacity and more than 110,000 are estimated to have closed their doors for good.
Yet Yelp data reveals that new openings for restaurants and other food businesses in 2020 were down by just 16 percent from 2019. And in the fourth quarter, they were just down 4 percent compared to the year-ago era. That means some courageous people, considering the current dangers, are moving ahead.
