India finally begins the BRICS chairship within an inaugural meeting on Wednesday. Anurag Srivastava, the ministry of external affairs spokesperson, said that India is looking forward to a well continuing productive discussion with BRICS partners over the next two days.
Chinese president Xi Jinping may also visit India for the BRICS summit to extend his support to India for hosting this year’s summit. The external affairs minister has also launched a website representing over 3.6 billion people, nearly half the world’s population.
They also added that this year’s summit would include the multilateral system’s reform, technological and digital solutions for sustainable development goals, counter-terrorism cooperation, and enhancing people-to-people cooperation.
This website is now live, and it’s constantly displaying the updated dynamic information and other useful links related to the previous summits, documents, and images. This will be the third time that India is hosting the summit after 2012 and 2016.
The theme for India’s chairship would be ‘BRICS @ 15: Intra – BRICS Cooperation for Continuity, Consolidation, and Consensus.’
