We are all aware of the significance of immunity in maintaining a safe lifestyle. It is the body’s first line of defence. A healthy immune system not only helps to resist infections but also lessens their effects.
Since last year (2020), experts worldwide have emphasised the importance of a healthy immune system in the face of the current pandemic. And we’re experimenting with everything from yoga to balanced eating to nourish us from inside.
Several ‘nuskas’ have also made their way back into our lives, the most famous of kadha (or herbal tea). For our overall wellbeing, we are turning to different herbal concoctions made from herbs and kitchen spices.
Cinnamon, garlic, ginger, mint leaves, and other herbs and spices are high in essential nutrients and used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. However, before settling on the dosage of the ingredients, it is often best to consult an expert. Know that too much of nothing is terrifying.
We came across this kadha recipe by celebrity nutritionist and life coach Luke Coutinho during our quest for a nutritious concoction. He recently took to Instagram to share a post with the recipe for his immunity-boosting kadha.
“Make your version of this potent immune-boosting concoction. You can use it to strengthen the lungs and break down mucus in children over the age of two, as well as anyone else” He wrote about it in the post.
Recipe for Luke Coutinho’s Immunity-Boosting Kadha:
One lemon, one cinnamon stick, 3-4 garlic cloves, a knob of ginger, and 7-8 Tulsi leaves are included in the kadha.
Step 1: Bring all of the ingredients to a boil in a 2-litre pot of water (except lemon juice).
Step 2: Continue to simmer for 3-4 minutes.
Step 3: Squeeze lemon juice into a cup and drink it wet. You can also keep it at room temperature for a day.
According to the celebrity nutritionist, you may also add 1 tbsp of methi seeds to the boiling water. And, according to Luke Coutinho, “drink at least 250 ml twice a day.”
